Actually, Jimmy cliff whose real name is James Chambers is one of the greatest reggae singers (artists) who started singing in 1963.

The song is taken from the film directed by "Perry Hanzel" .This film speaks of a young man who goes to Kingston to make money.

Song

“Blue Monday” is a song by the English group New Order. This song was released as a single in 1983. The song is about a person who expresses his feelings. "Blue Monday" is often seen as one of the most important crossover tracks of the 1980s pop music scene. "Blue Monday" was the first British dance record to show an obvious influence from the New York club scene.
Group

New Order was a band gathering Bernard Sumner (singer, keyboard and guitar), Stephen Morris (drums), Peter Hook (bass), and Gillian Gilbert (keyboard and guitar). The four musicians were already friends and worked together when they decided to work on this album. This song was a success.
If we had to define this type of music, we could say that it was more or less punk rock because New Wave was the style of the decade.
Actually, the group split up because the members couldn’t work together any longer.
Obviously, they found inspiration from the new wave, they did confess it several times referring to Cold wave. Indeed, the mood of this song is quite cold and bloomy. Ian Curtis died when he was only 23.
One cannot talk about this group without mentioning their dress code which became basics at the time but aren’t nowadays… have a look!
Times

This decade was dedicated to New Wave which was the opposite of punk music. Most people think punk is a derision of real life, provocative and violent whereas the lyrics of the new wave genre are appeasing, the singers don’t shout and the songs are melodious
