Times
As you may remember the song itself dealt with freedom , indeed The 90s was rich in emotion.
tragic things happened at this time across the world. For instance, there were a lot of wars. But in England it was a very good period for creativity as musical matters were concerned... people wanted to dream of flying out of their body, and that's what the group did singing Wonderwall.
Did you know that ??
It has often been said that Wonderwall was written for Meg Mathews, Noel Gallagher's girlfriend at the time (with whom he married in 1997 and from whom he divorced four years later). He now says that this song did not speak about Meg at all...

« I stopped to fill my car up « is a song by the English group Stereophonics. This song deals about a lie , a story invented to drive one's attention. An everyday life anecdote which seems to end pretty badly... about a man who fills his car up and when he goes back to his car he sees a middle-aged man at the back with a bag full of money who asks him to drive him away threatening him with a gun... ( hence the title i stopped to fill my car up)
Group

Stereophonics is a band gathering Kelly Jones (singer , guitar), text by Richard Jones, at the bass, Javier Weylex (drum since in 2004) and Adam Zindani guitar (choros since in 2007) . The 3 musicians were already friends, when they decided to work on this album. This song was a blockbuster. If we had to define it we could say that it is more or less alternative rock and Britpop music. Actually they named their band Stereophonics because Kelly come from Pheonix . They were influenced by bands such as AC/DC, Creedance.
Times

« Video killed the radio star » is a song by the British band The Buggles This song was released on the album 'The age of Plastic' in 1979, it's about how the music business killed the real music, how 'pictures came and broke your heart' (Hence the title « Video killed the radio star ») Group
The Buggles was a band gathering Greff Downes (keyboard) Trevor Horn (singer and at the guitar). The 2 musicians were already working together when they decided to work on this album. This song was a hit ! Indeed, they are remembered for this single which was top 1 in several countries such as France and the UK ! If we had to define this type of music we could say that it was more or less « New Wave » New Wave emerged in the late 1970's. It was a subgenre of rock music, which incorporated aspects of electronic, experimental music, disco, rock and 1960s pop music. It incorporated much of the original punk rock sound but it was characterized by greater complexity in both music and lyrics. That song was the first to be broadcasted on the channel « MTV » Times
Don't Forget that the Rubik's Cube was created in 1974 ! Isn't that fun ! In the mid-70, new sounds invaded the dancefloors of nightclubs. Phenomenon Disco gave emphasis on the rhythm and the United States exported it in Europ. On the artistic scene, the 70's ended with the deaths of popular rock stars like Jimi Hendrix , Janis Joplin and Jim Morrinson (USA). At this time, their garnment was pretty eccentric, it was not unusual to see bands wearing strange colour combination...The 70's are synonymous with EXTREME. The Buggles played as a group in November 2004 during a concert to comemorate Trevor Horn's career .

The song is pretty sad, it speaks about a house in New Orleans. The character described in the song lives in misery and seems to be complaining about his conditions of living... Group
The Animals was a band gathering Hilton Valentine (guitar), Alan Price (keyboards), Chas Chandler (bass), and John Steel (drums). The 4 musicians were already quite famous when they decided to work on this album. This song was a hit.If we had to define this type of music, we could say that it was more or less folk/rock music because there are a bass, drums, a guitar, a keyboard and all these instruments together remind us of folk/rock music. Obviously, The Animals drew their inspiration from Leadbelly among others.
One cannot talk about this group without mentionning their dress code and hairstyle which became basics at the time.... But are dated nowadays we must confess !Have a look at this picture to get a glimpse of the time... NO COMMENT !
Times
As you may remember, the song itself the "House oh the Rising Sun" is a very sad story, about people who live in poverty New Orleans. This song aims at warning us against gambling and alcohol. If you think about the 60s in the US, don't forget that it was the time of Martin Luther who stood for Black people's rights (in New Orleans there has always been Black people living there in poverty for a great majority of them). We do hope that this article was not too boring and that from now on you are DEFINITELY great fan of The animals !
And don't 4get : UK ROCKS, that's for sure !

Song
« Bohemian Rhapsody » is a song written by the famous English group Queen. This song was released on the album «A night at the Opera » in 1975. The song is about a boy who killed someone and is deeply desperate. He tells his mother how he feels about this: terribly guilty. Indeed, he wishes he’d “never been born at all”. The title of this song («Bohemian Rhapsody ») remains a mystery to us…
Group
Queen was a band gathering Brian May (guitar), Freddie Mercury (piano and singer), John Deacon (bass) and Roger Taylor (drums). The four musicians were already quite famous, friends and working together when they decided to work on this album. This song was a blockbuster.
If we had to define this type of music, we could say that it was more or less Opera rock because there are an introduction, a kind of ballad, solo guitar, opera way of singing, hard rock...
Unfortunately, Freddie Mercury died in 1991. He was the major songwriter of the group (indeed, he wrote Bohemian Rhapsody) and their lead vocalist. Yet, Queen are still as famous as ever nowadays.
Obviously, they drew their inspiration from religious influences, opera, Galileo (physicist and astronomer) and progressive rock. Indeed, they inspired the Rock Opera and gave a different orientation to rock music.
One cannot talk about this group without mentioning their style which was really eccentric to say the least (beneath the glitz and the glitter of their androgynous costumes)... Have a look at this picture to get a glimpse of the time...
Times
As you may remember, the song itself dealt with a boy who killed someone and tells his mother. At the time, Queen stated that "Bohemian Rhapsody" was about a young man who had accidentally killed someone and, like Faust, sold his soul to the devil. On the night before his execution, he called for God in Arabic, "Bismillah", and with the help of angels, regained his soul from Shaitan.
We can’t say that this particular song -and moreover its contents- are reflecting the times… but this very song is ‘a kind of magic’, so listen and medidate!
