The 8 musicians were already quite famous (actually two of them are brothers) when they decided to work on this album. This song was a hit because it is their most famous one. If we had to define it, we could say that it was more or less rock'n'roll, psychedelic pop music because they play simple and sustained rhythms. Actually in 1995 there was a kind of competition between them (Oasis) and Blur another group of rock. Obviously, they drew their inspiration from John Lennon, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, or Bob Dylan. Indeed, they did confess their admiration several times referring to Joy Division and The Stones Roses as their great masters.
