"Wonderwall" Oasis 90's
Song

"Wonderwall"is a song by the English group Oasis. This song was realeased on the album "Moming Glory" in 1995. The song is about love, a man who's helpless and wants to describe his feelings but doesn't know how.

Group

Oasis was a band gathering Noe Gallager (singing, guitar), Liam Gallager (singing), Gem Acher (guitar), Andy Bell (bass), Paul McGuigan (bass), Tony McCarol (drums), Paul Arthur (guitar) and Allan White (drums). The 8 musicians were already quite famous (actually two of them are brothers) when they decided to work on this album. This song was a hit because it is their most famous one. If we had to define it, we could say that it was more or less rock'n'roll, psychedelic pop music because they play simple and sustained rhythms. Actually in 1995 there was a kind of competition between them (Oasis) and Blur another group of rock. Obviously, they drew their inspiration from John Lennon, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, or Bob Dylan. Indeed, they did confess their admiration several times referring to Joy Division and The Stones Roses as their great masters.

Times

As you many remember, the song itself dealt with love feelings in a contemporary UK facing unemployment and strikes all around the country.  Indeed, don't forget that at that time there were economic and industrial crisis, and some miners are still on strike. During the 90s a new movement of rock was born: the Britpop, which was a British rock movement, that lead to a lot od derivatives, and which was influenced by the groups of the 60s and 70s. Oasis was one of the pioneers of the Britpop movement, althought they always refused that label.
