   '' It's Not Unusual '' is a song by the singer Tom Jones .

This song was released on the album Along Came Jones in 1965 . The song was sung at first by someone unknown, before being offered to Sandie Show and then it  was sung by Tom jones.

This song is about a man believing that it's not unusual ( hence the title ''It's Not Unusual '' ) to love somebody , to have fun with the person  or to be loved by anyone in your everyday life .

'' It's Not Unusual ' was a blockboster in the 60s . If we had to give you clues about this type of music , we could say that it was more or less POP music because at this time it was really popular ! Yet , the BBC initially refused to play it , but the off shore pirate radio station Radio Caroline promoted it .

Tom Jones became Sir Tom JONES on the 31st december 2005 (Queen Elisabeth II)  .

Obviously , Tom JONES found inspiration from Elvis Presley. Indeed, he did  confess it several times refering to the latter as his mentor and idol .

One cannot talk about this singer without mentionning his dress style which was basic at the time ... But is dated now we must confess !

As you may remember  , the song itself dealt with LOVE <3 , because LOVE is universal, it's an extraordinary feeling which crosses every boundaries, that's why tom jones sang this song .

Don't forget that 'the Sixties ' are known as the years of the beginnings of  counterculture and social revolutions (terms used by historians , journalists).

There were still many taboos as sexism and racism , there was no means to communicate with the ''colored persons''... therefore,  music was the only way to communicate with each others, no matter the differences... and that's what Tom jones did in his song!

Did You Know That ???

In the middle of the 80s , the heavy metal magazine'' Kerrang! '' published a hoax announcing that Tom Jones  had just been hired as singer of the group Black Sabbath. This hoax was a shape of mockery against the famous British group which did not stop changing vocaliste during this period
