Secondary Schools in France

Before looking into the different school systems around the world, we wanted to talk about secondary schools in France.

1. Schools in France are very dirty.

2. There are too many pupils in one class (25 to 30).

3. The day in school begins at 8 a.m. and finishes at 5:30 p.m. We work on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesday mornings, Thursdays and Fridays. Every six weeks, we are on holiday for two weeks.

4. School subjects: French, Math, Physics, Biology, History, Geography, Arts, Physical Education, English, Spanish, Latin, German, Music, Technology.

5. Detention: for being late, bad behaviour, chatting, insults...

6. Recess: it lasts for 15 minutes, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

7. A lesson lasts 55 minutes.

8. Summer holidays last two months : July and August.

9. In France, there is no school uniform.

10. The teachers are crazy and strict.

11. Schools are co-ed. Some private schools are religious but State schools are all secular.
